Using Groups to Grant Privileges

Groups reduce the effort required to grant privileges.

Groups enable you to manage access controls easily and quickly. Granting privileges to groups insulates the administrator from staffing changes and ensures consistent assignment of privileges.

When setting access controls, you may need to specify access on several cabinets and folders. Rather than setting privileges for each user on all of these objects, you can create a group and assign the users to the group, Then grant the group the necessary privileges on the cabinets and folders of interest.
Note: Further reduction of effort can be achieved by also using Roles and role groups.
